Version 1 published on May 25th 2018.

Welcome to Playster’s Cookie Policy (“Policy”).

We here at Playster wish to provide you, as a user of our Site and Service, with information regarding the cookies we use, how they improve your user experience and the control you have over your cookie settings. If you continue to use our Site and Services without disabling cookies we will assume that you are willing to accept all cookies from our Site.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small data files stored on your device when you visit a website which either enable or enhance the functionality of that website by recognizing that device. For the purposes of this Policy, we will use the term cookie to describe various forms of cookie technology, including but not limited to pixel tags, mobile device identifiers and web storage files used in both mobile devices and desktop software.

Cookies are useful to the users of any site, allowing them to easily navigate between pages by remembering their preferences, such as language and sign-in information, and helping to ensure that they see ads online that are in-line with their interests.

There are a number of different types of cookies, some are “session cookies” which expire when you close your web browser and others are “persistent cookies” which stay on your device for a predetermined period of time, or until deleted. Furthermore, it is important to note that cookies also can be differentiated on the basis of their purpose, such as:

  • “Essential Cookies” which are necessary for us to provide you with the use of our Site and Service in accordance with your instructions and the type of membership you have;
  • “Performance Cookies” which collect anonymous information relating to how visitors use our Site and Service, such as information relating to how often certain pages are viewed or to certain pages generating error messages;
  • “Functionality Cookies” which remember choices you make such as sign-information, language preference, font size, etc. to improve your experience; and
  • “Targeting or Advertising Cookies” which are used to serve users relevant ads based on their interests as well as how many times a user sees a particular ad. In addition, advertising networks use these cookies to track the efficiency and relevance of certain ads to users and are generally linked to aspects of site functionality which are provided by other organizations.

How do we use cookies?

Playster uses these cookies (and the information collected therefrom, such your unique device ID, IP address, browser type, operating system, content viewed etc.) to make your use of our Site and Service more convenient and to ensure the overall functionality of the Site and Service in the following ways:

  • Essential Cookies: to tailor your unique user experience as per your instructions, such as recognizing the type of membership you have and grant you to access the appropriate content accordingly. As indicated by their name, they are essential and neither the Site nor the Service will function properly without them;
  • Performance Cookies: to monitor, audit, research and report on the use of the Site and Service and analyse how the Site and Service are accessed. These cookies help Playster manage and improve the Site and Service;
  • Functionality Cookies: to provide you with the most user-friendly online experience, these cookies remember choices you make, such as language preferences, sign-in information and other customizable elements of the Site and Service as well as remembering the content you enjoyed so as to provide you with more of the same.
  • Targeting or Advertising Cookies: While there are no ads on the Site and Service and thus, no reason to tailor the ads to your interests, we do use these cookies when we work with website publishers, application developers, advertising networks and service providers to promote the Site and Service on other websites and services.

You should note that our Site and Service may use technology such as web beacons, web bugs or clear GIFs to track and analyse non-personally identifiable usage information and to compile statistical information about our Users (e.g. their IP address, browser type, internet service provider etc.) in order to improve the Site's quality and to support our business.

Moreover, Playster does allow certain service providers, such as Google Analytics, to place cookies and similar technology on the Site and Service for similar purposes to those listed above, including the collection of information regarding users’ online activities in order to provide them with advertising based on their interests.

In addition, our Site and Service may also use HTML5 localStorage technology to enhance your user experience. This technology operates in the same fashion as cookies technology and therefore we will use this mechanism to collect and store information as well as configure your experience in the same ways outlined above.

How can you manage your cookie preferences?

Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can configure your browser to alert you every time a cookie is offered, letting you decide whether or not to accept it. You can also configure your browser to block all cookies from a specific domain or all domains. You can, of course, use and visit our Site with cookies disabled, but you will not automatically be recognised by the Site and Service upon re-visiting, and in the case you choose to set up your browser not to accept any cookies, you may experience a number of difficulties with regard to the overall functionality of the Site and Service.

As for mobile device identifiers, your operating system will likely allow you to modify your settings to opt out of receiving interest based ads or to otherwise reset your mobile identifiers. For example, iOS users may use the “Limit Ad Tracking” setting and Android users can choose to “Opt out of Ads Personalisation” or reset their advertising ID.

Certain targeted ads that are displayed to your based on your interests, your online activities and/or other form of behavioural targeting may include the “AdChoices” icon or another mechanism for opting-out of receiving interest based ads. For more information about interest based advertising, or if you wish to understand more about why you see certain ads and how you can choose to opt-out of receiving interest-based advertising, you may click on the AdChoices icon or visit any of the following pages:
